There is currently a renewed interest in VAWT technology, according to a blog by Oregon-based cleantech market research analysts. It argues that "there is strong, though relatively limited, potential in the medium wind turbine market segment (100-900kW range)". Although these types of turbines could find application in a wide variety of community settings, no known commercially available VAWT product currently exists in that power range.
Which designs will emerge as the most robust and efficient? Only time can tell.
