Did you know that some wind turbines can lift and lower their nacelles? Here is the Vergnet GEV HP 1MW, part of Aerotrope's blade design portfolio since 2008, when we delivered the wind turbine blades' CAD surface geometry definition for mould manufacture and root transition aerofoils as part of the fairing process.
Earthquake and hurricane-proof, it uses guy wires to fly down the upwind part of the nacelle and blades rapidy and easily. With a hub height of 70 m and a rotor diameter of 62 m, this two-bladed wind turbine is designed specifically for transport to some of the remotest terrain with some of the harshest climates in the world. The wider, thicker rotor blades feature a greater strength versus weight- ratio and high elasticity, which results in an increased lifetime.
